Loose Yourself
The Key To Defeating MAGA Attacks
Have you ever thought about the ending of the movie 8 Mile? Watching Eminem in the rap battles is great, but there is something important in the ending that most people likely miss.
In the finale of the movie, Eminem is faced with a series of three rappers. With the first two, Eminem goes second and is able to use his rap to counter his opponent. However, in the last round, Anthony Mackie’s character chooses that Eminem go first.
And if you have seen the movie, you know what comes next. Eminem opens by owning all of his faults, naming them and then dismissing them, showing that those words have no power over him. In the end, the other guy is left completely disarmed with absolutely nothing to say.
What does this have to do with MAGA? Well, everything.
In the first season of Game Of Thrones, Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister meet during a feast at Winterfell. The “bastard” is left from the feast because it would be an insult to the king. The “dwarf” chooses to be away from the others. At the time, Jon is upset about his status as a “bastard” and Tyrion tells him:
Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you.
Every day, MAGA not only forgets who they are, they actively deny it. They are afraid of the world learning what they truly are, so they demand to be allowed to hide it from everyone.
Ask MAGA to admit one of their own faults, something they would like to improve about themselves. They can’t do it.
If you ask Trump to grade himself, he never says he is anything less than perfect.
No one is perfect. We all have flaws, so why can they never admit to any of them?
Trump should be able to say “what I did in Iran caused gas prices to spike”, but he can’t. His flaws are inherently his weakness because he cannot learn from them.
Think about this. Here we are, six years after he lost an election, claimed it was stolen, staged an insurrection on his own government, and violently attacked the Capitol.
And yet, today, he is still throwing tantrums and refusing to admit that he lost.
The thing is, the loss shouldn’t even matter anymore. Even if someone “stole” the election from him, he (technically) won another one.
Why does he still care about it at all? Why is he so hellbent on everyone believing his own lie that he told to himself?
Jon Snow was upset about being a bastard, but there was nothing that was ever going to change that. That is what Tyrion was telling him.
There is no way to change something you have no control over. You can only accept it, move on, and live with it.
I didn’t want to lose my best friend before he turned 40, but nothing is going to change that. I cannot lie my way into breathing life back into him. Just like Jon could not tell himself any lie that was going to change his status as a bastard.
Just like Trump and MAGA cannot lie away all of their failures and misdeeds. They are plain for the world to see.
We accept them, why can’t you?
See, I think that is the key that ties all of this together.
“Wear it like armor.”
In general, people will admit to their faults and try to improve. Have a bad night after the bar? Well, maybe I should drink a little less. Drive too fast and get a speeding ticket? Maybe I should slow down.
By owning up to who you are, you can change the things that you are unhappy with about yourself and you can change what effect those words have on you. Jon Snow had to accept being a bastard in order for that word to stop having power over him.
MAGA is chronically incapable of any type of self-reflection.
Sometimes they feel the need to argue with me here, which inevitably turns into a barrage of insults. I always find this hilarious, because there are no words any moron on the internet could say that would hurt my feelings.
These people will just attack others, but never like it when it turns back on them.
Talarico didn’t flip out because Stephen Miller referred to him as “transgender”. I bet he found it funny. But the response to being called an “ugly fuck” for it was absolutely hilarious.
Are they so insecure about themselves that the word “ugly” hurts their feelings?
In every statement from MAGA folks, they give away their own insecurities.
Stephen Miller has shown he is insecure about his appearance by attacking Talarico. So, the Democrats went after him and his insecurity, and he broke down in a little fit.
Donald Trump has shown he is insecure about the election and being popular, so if you press him on it, he breaks down and has a little fit.
If you hold their own faults up to them, they snap.
Trump knows he lost, but he has to lie to himself about it so that he can continue to lie to his cult about it. He cannot stand on a stage like Eminem did and lay out all the things he has failed to do or all the promises he has failed to keep.
When someone tells me “I don’t know what a woman is”, that means they are insecure about women. If someone calls you a “retard”, it is because they are insecure about their intelligence.
If you go for the thing that hurts them, they go silent. They have no defense. They want to make you feel the same way they feel, weak and powerless. They want you to feel shame or embarassment, so don’t.
Make them feel it even more.
You cannot get hurt if you have already accepted who you are, but they can because they haven’t.

Powerful post. Thank you.
The whole “don’t know what a woman is” thing is hilarious. As a technical person, I know the correct answer to that and every other technical question is “it depends”. One thing I know for sure is that the person making the accusation does not know the answer.
